Renting a car in Boston for Thanksgiving? Start with your pickup and return dates, then check four things: the minimum rental length, where you'll get the car, the documents you need, and what happens if you're late bringing it back. Our daily-rate cars have a 3-day minimum, and we count days by calendar date, so picking up Tuesday and returning Friday around Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 26, 2026) counts as 3 days. Pickup and return are 24/7, holidays included, and our team works as usual on Thanksgiving.

Why Thanksgiving week needs its own checklist

Thanksgiving is a federal holiday, and the federal holiday schedule puts it on Thursday, November 26, 2026. Lots of people travel in the days around it, so plans rarely look like a normal week: you fly in Wednesday, drive to dinner in another state Thursday and head home Sunday.

Renting a car works the same as any other week. It just pays to sort out the details early, not the day you land.

Planning your Thanksgiving car rental in Boston

Here's what to settle before you pay the booking deposit.

  • Your dates. Pick the calendar days you actually need the car. Daily-rate cars have a 3-day minimum, counted by date. The C-Max Hybrid and our Sedan, SUV and 7-Seater SUV types are weekly rentals (7-day minimum). There are no 1-day or hourly rentals, and the minimum stays the same over the holiday.
  • Pickup or delivery. Pick up at 650 Ocean Ave in Revere, or we'll deliver anywhere in Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Rhode Island for a flat $120. On rentals of 30 days or less, Revere pickup and delivery to a Boston or Revere address add a $10 local surcharge. Taxes and fees are on our pricing page.
  • Flying into Logan? Take the free Massport 88 shuttle to the Economy Garage and meet us at 239 Prescott St in East Boston. We don't meet at the terminal curb.
  • License and age. You need to be 18 or older. We take U.S. and international licenses (with an international license, also bring an International Driving Permit and your passport). A third-party service checks every license before the rental starts.
  • Payment. Debit card, credit card, cash, Zelle, Venmo or Cash App. You don't need a credit card.
  • Your return. Bring the car back at the time and place we agreed on. Late returns are $30 an hour, and more than 3 hours late counts as a full extra day.
  • Holiday hours. We're open on Thanksgiving: pickup and return run 24/7, and you can call us any time at (617) 655-6529.

Two sample Thanksgiving-week trips

Here's how the 3-day minimum fits around the holiday.

Tuesday to Friday (November 24 to 27). Pick up the car Tuesday, drive Wednesday, spend Thursday with family and return Friday. That's the shortest trip that covers Thanksgiving Day, since Tuesday to Friday counts as 3 days.

Wednesday to Sunday (November 25 to 29). Good if you're arriving the night before, staying through the weekend and making a second stop in New Hampshire or Rhode Island. You can drive anywhere in those three states; to go further, ask us first.

Only need a car on Thursday? Our shortest rental is 3 days, so it may be worth comparing other ways to get there.

A week before pickup

A week out, you still have options if something needs to change.

  • Lock in your dates. The booking deposit is $350 (or your whole rental total, if that's less), paid online when you book, and it goes toward your total. Cancel 7 or more days before your trip starts (exactly 7 counts) and we start your refund right away; how fast it shows up depends on your payment method and bank. For a Tuesday, November 24 pickup, that means cancelling by November 17. The cutoff goes by Boston time and when we get your message, and you can cancel 24/7 by phone, text or email. See our cancellation policy.
  • Verify your license. After you book, we send a secure link to verify your license. Do it early, because the rental can't start until it's approved.
  • Adding a second driver? Extra drivers are free, but we need to approve them first.
  • Decide on the damage waiver. It's optional, $30 a day, and caps what you pay for covered damage to the car at $3,000 per incident. It isn't insurance. Want to use your own auto policy instead? Upload your insurance ID card through the same verification service. It's usually checked within a day, and once we confirm your policy covers the rental, your coverage carries over. You can also rent without your own insurance.
  • Pick a car that fits your group. Our fleet shows how many people and bags each car holds.

The day before

  • Check your confirmation for where to meet us.
  • Flying into Logan? Make sure we have your airline and flight number. We track your flight, so a late landing is no problem.
  • Check the forecast, and call us if snow or ice changes your plans.
  • Charge your phone, download offline maps and pack a charging cable.
  • Save our number, (617) 655-6529. We're here 24/7, Thanksgiving included.

Pickup day

  • Before you drive off, take photos all the way around the car, plus the dashboard showing the charge or fuel level.
  • Bring the car back at the same charge or fuel level. It doesn't need to be full. If it's lower, there's a flat fee: $50 for an electric car and $100 for a gas or hybrid car. Your pickup photo shows where it started.
  • Keep your confirmation and our number handy.
  • Tolls, tickets and Tesla Supercharging are billed to you after the trip.
